I've sent on the Shore and Castle trails.
A truly lovely area. My wife and I stopped here along our path to the northern coast. Of course, the reason for the stop was because this is the filming location for Winterfell in Game of Thrones! Having been there, I wish that we had reserved more time for this visit. The grounds are beautiful and there was so much more to see, but we didn't have time. Check it out for yourself! Have fun!

My girlfriend and I visited Castle Ward because I am an obsessive Game of Thrones (GOT) fan and it is was the original set location for Winterfell Castle - big deal for us fans. While it was an amazing experience, it is important for show fans to know this is a national park, and as such they do not market it as a GOT attraction. So, don't expect to get a thematic tour or buy any show themed attire. If you are expecting Disneyland or Harry Potter World this isn't for you.That being said, the way that they have preserved the castles integrity and avoided heavy commercialization was pretty awesome in its own right.Lastly, an added bonus for us was the timing of our arrival. The famous "Battle of the Basterds" episode literally aired the night before we arrived. So,we were able to celebrate Jon Snow's victory (he took back the castle) at the same place it was shot - pretty cool!
