A gem of a place. Full of information and history. Every staff member we spoke to was very helpful and polite, you can tell they all enjoy working here. Food and service in the tea rooms was spot on.
Excellent place, very good exhibits, engaging to my 8 year old granddaughter and to me. Lovely cafe too with amazing food and views
For a free museum its one of the best in Northern Ireland. Very well done exhibits with a ton of info and visuals of Down's history. The cafe is great although I've had slow service there. The building itself, an old jail, is interesting. Definitely worth stopping in if you're visiting St Patrick's grave.
Went to the Artisan Market. Which is very good. Not a big market but good variety of stalls. Then went round the museum. Very interesting and informative. Well worth a visit
Now here is a little treasure...Sometimes you stumble upon a place that is friendly and welcoming. Sometimes you find a place that is informative and interesting. Occasionally you will find something that is free.... This place is all three!A great use of the former gaol, the museum is one of the finest local museums I have visited. I am not a great fan of waxworks but they have excellent ones here.A visit here is a must for anybody passing ... and it's free (or was when I went there).
